Texarkana’s most well-known and successful son is surely Ross Perot. We were very lucky to have him as our keynote speaker at Scout-O-Rama 2015, and he has always been a wonderful supporter of Scouting here in the Caddo Area Council. As we do every year, we invite Mr. Perot to attend Scout-O-Rama and unfortunately, he cannot make it this year, however, he did send us an autographed book to include in the time capsule and a personal note to share with all our Scouts and leaders.
Thank you for your kind invitation to attend the 2017 Boy Scouts of America Caddo Area Council 4 States Scout-O-Rama. Unfortunately, I am not available to attend this year, but send my best wishes for a successful event.
This year’s theme “Be Prepared” sends a profound message to our future leaders in the Scouting program. Our future will be determined by the quality of our leaders.
Please thank everyone who has volunteered their time and energy to make this the best Scout-O-Rama ever.
It has been an honor and privilege to be associated with Scouting throughout my life.
Thank you Mr. Perot.
Time Capsule Update:
The Caddo Area Council would like you to participate in the burial of a time capsule. The burial of the time capsule will take place during the 2017 Scout-O-Rama event at Spring Lake Park. All submissions for the time capsule will be taken until 3 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017. The time capsule will be buried later that day.
The time capsule will be located at the Scout-O-Rama Headquarters for units to submit photos, written articles, and personal treasures (neckerchiefs, unit t-shirts, patches, photos, etc.) All items should fit inside a 2 gallon zip lock bag. This bag will help preserve the contents inside of it and keep your troop or pack contents together. Scout-O-Rama representatives strongly encourage all participants to place photos of their troop’s members and leaders as one of their articles inside their plastic bag. As you submit your articles, make sure you have your Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop and Girl Scout troop numbers on your articles. Place the current date on your articles on a piece of paper along with the participant’s age. A Scout-O-Rama representative will approve all articles before being placed into the capsule (most items will be approved). The time capsule will document who was here 25 years from now, meaning it will be opened during the Scout-O-Rama event in the year of 2042.
