We’d like to welcome Battery G, 1st Michigan Light Artillery unit. Battery G was one of the original 12 Batteries raised in response to President Lincolns call for troop to defend Washington DC at the onset of the civil war. They fought in several battles down the Mississippi River to the Texas gulf coast, with it’s final battle at Mobile Bay, Alabama.
Today, Battery G is a Living History Group portraying life the Union Artillery during the American Civil War. Their mission is
“to educate both school-aged children and the general public, about the life and hardships common to the soldiers of the Civil War. This is achieved through research, publications, reenactments, ceremonies, as well as other living history demonstrations.”
